San Gimignano is a small town in the province of Siena, rich in charm and history. The town of San Gimignano is located nearly halfway between Florence and Siena, from which it is respectively 60 and 45 km, and is easily accessible by car or bus. The city was built on a hill about 300 meters and enjoys a privileged view over the picturesque landscape of the Val d 'Elsa surroundings. The hill, as evidenced by various objects found in the municipal area was inhabited since the Etruscan and Hellenistic period, probably due to its dominant position which allowed easier to keep under control the valley.

At the end of the 1100 San Gimignano was embellished with seventy towers, which were built by many wealthy families to flaunt their wealth and power. They are still beautiful fourteen towers remained to characterize the city center and make unique and recognizable profile of San Gimignano. Despite the passing of the centuries, San Gimignano has managed to preserve its medieval charm and is still arguably one of the little treasures of Tuscany. The "city of beautiful towers" as it is rightly called, was declared Patrimony of 'humanity from' UNESCO in 1990.
