Cilento
Cilento is a unique experience for lovers of nature and culture. The name comes from cis Alentum, meaning on this side of Alento, although today the river is no longer marking the border. The Cilento offers a variety of important and interesting features, the remains of Greek civilization of Temple of Paestum and Velia, memories of classics such as Capo Palinuro sung by Virgil, the castles of the interior and coastal towers, reminiscent of medieval life and barbarian raids. In fact, the history of the Cilento is possible through castles, abbeys, country houses, rural villages and ancient historical centers. The main attraction is the wonderful and uncontaminated sea, nestled between the headlands, coves and inlets, marinas and beaches. The coast runs from Agropoli Poplars, Castellabate, Ascea, Pisciotta, in Centola, Palinuro, Marina di Camerota and Sapri. Cobalt sea, in the shadow of Aleppo pines, among the gnarled olive trees and majestic and becomes silent in the caves and cliffs and rocks and beaches of golden sand. Pisciotta-Palinuro
Pisciotta Cilento is a picturesque village perched on a hill overlooking the clear blue sea of the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano in whose lives the Posidonia sea beds, a type of algae, which testifies the good condition of marine waters. The sides of the hill Pisciotta are lapped by the two rivers (the Flowers and the San Macario), leading to the beach of Marina di Pisciotta and demarcate the extent of its pebble beach. The village still preserves its typical medieval structure and the hills that crown is completely covered with venerable olive trees belonging to the species Pisciottana whose oil is the most famous product of Pisciotta.
Palinuro
Palinuro on its pristine coastline offers beautiful stretches of beach and many small bays, hidden coves and sea caves. Just the beautiful sea caves of Palinuro are the major attraction for many tourists who come to visit every summer. The Blue Grotto is named after the play of light created by a conduit to 20 feet deep that allows the penetration of sunlight. The Cave of silver must instead its name to The Arc silvery reflections caused by natural limestone deposited on the bottom, while the Cave of the blood takes its name from a small red algae. La Grotta dei Monaci shows the many visitors to the limestone formations in the form of monks in prayer. Memorable visit to the Natural Arch, a huge arch of rock that juts out into the sea, and the little bay "Buon Dormire" behind him.
Ascea
Ascending is an ancient medieval village, situated on a hill overlooking the coast on which stands the village of Ascea. Surely Ascea is better known than the capital by the many tourists who flock to its beach or visit the excavations of Velia, one of the most important cities of Magna Graecia. The marina has a Ascea about 5km long beach and 70 meters wide. Ascea, the ancient city of Elea (Velia then called by the Romans), a Greek colony founded in 540 of Focei a. C., that was the site of a prestigious pre-Socratic philosophical school whose main representative was Parmenides. Do not miss the performances of classical greek theater in excavations in the theater auditorium and Parmenides in the summer.
Acciaroli
Acciaroli is one of the most popular seaside resorts of the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano. The crystal clear water, fine sandy beaches and tourist services of good quality have earned this former fishing village, (now fully converted to the tourism industry without being overwhelmed), the five sails legambiente and the blue flag, a prestigious recognition of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). The heart of Acciaroli hamlet of inches, is made up from the Marina which is overlooked by the old Norman tower that serves the dual role of ancient defend the ring and chain guard towers placed at defense the coast of Salerno from the Saracens and the danger of the church of 1100 AD with its distinctive bell tower. The rural home “Le Favate” in the National Park of the Cilento is originally part of an antique rustic home from 1600s with a private chapel, a preserved, original mill and water well, massive hardwood beams, and old terracotta floor pavements that have all been refinished by hand. It is bordered by a good one hundred hectors of cultivation of olive trees and grape vines, from which the business produces DOC quality wine and extra virgin olive oil of superior quality.The rooms and suites elegantly furnished in a simple but refined manner come with telephone, bathroom in room; a few rooms offer bathtub and hydro-massage shower while others have small fireplace or terracotta oven inside. The apartments are well equipped, spacious, with terrace: ideal for families with 2-3 children. The apartments are in 2 separated building Casa Matteo and Casone (750 metres from the main building). To go to the beach there are 2 road: 1 walking road (not suitable for everyone), or by car is about 15 minute.
