Capri is difficult to describe with words or images this magical small Mediterranean island, chosen by the Roman emperors to conduct their boundless territories. Capri can be enjoyed only on the spot, when the last rays of the sun paint the Faraglioni coppery hue. The sea is visible from every point of the island on the horizon merges with the blue sky, the gardens of the villas and the green tree-lined paths, the blue magic of the world's most famous cave, the white and pastel houses typical of Capri The scent of lemon trees and many species of the island, the flavors and aromas of Neapolitan cuisine, the wind noise in the creeks and natural arc of the stacks: unique feelings in a unique island.
Capri is one of three major islands of the Gulf of Naples, the one located further south, in front of Punta Campanella, the most extreme of the Sorrento Peninsula. In the picture of a side view of Capri regained from the peninsula. The island's four residential centers, or Capri, Anacapri and two marinas, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande. But the island is divided administratively into two towns: Capri and Anacapri. The image of Capri as an island of VIPs meeting place from all over the world, with its exclusive hotels and crowds of yachts at the port, does not do justice to its natural beauty. There are several things to see on an island that offers both natural attractions like the Blue Grotto, the Natural Arch, the Gardens of Augustus, the Cave Matermania, both historical and architectural as Via Krupp, the ruins of Villa Jovis, Villa Malaparte, Villa San Michele, Villa Lysis, the Certosa, and the Faraglioni, of course.
The Faraglioni are three huge rocks, about 100 meters high that rise from the depths of the sea creating a spectacular effect of beauty. The first cliff, 109 meters high and is connected to the island is said to 'star and the other,' or stack 'and miezzo, is smaller (81 m) on the third, or said' Scuopolo, 104 meters high, live blue lizard (Podarcis sicula coerulea), a rare species that lives only on that stack.
The Blue Grotto is an attraction but relatively recent. Known only to fishermen of the island became famous in 1826 when the German writer August Kopisch, after being accompanied by a fisherman Angelo Ferraro, described in his story. The beauty of the cave are its color created by sunlight passing through its narrow entrance. Striking is the rite in which they are bound tourists who visit it: after reaching the cave with large boats that leave from Marina Grande, visitors are transferred to small boats in groups of 3-4 people and then made to lie down on the back so that they can pass through its entrance that has a very low sixth, impossible to pass if you remain seated.
To visit the Blue Grotto, there are several possibilities: many hotels offer private tours and agencies directly to the cave. Those who have little time can make a tour of the island which takes about 45 minutes which included a visit to the cave. Finally, the port of Marina Grande, there are several prominent companies that have a direct visit motorboat to the cave. There can also be reached overland by bus, taxi or on foot: there are paths leading to the ridge above the cave (40 minutes from Anacapri, one hour starting from Capri). By bus or taxi will take 5 to 15 minutes. Of course, to enter the cave then you should always stand on the rowing boats of the fishermen present at the entrance.
